About the Work

Alex Johnson has served as a leader in both higher education and healthcare for over 35 years.

Alex Johnson

I am an experienced provost, academician, and clinician. I have consulted with institutions across the United States and around the world. My PhD in speech-language pathology afforded me the opportunity to learn from amazing mentors, to serve patients, and to lead large clinical programs. My academic experience as a program director, department chair, and provost has given me insight and experience in both public and private institutions.

In my most recent role as chief academic officer I was able to focus on developing innovative new models for graduate education in many different fields, launch a distinctive interprofessional education model, build continuing education offerings, and grow enrollment. At the same time, our focus on research paved the way for innovating new discoveries in several key areas.

As the president of very large national professional organization, I learned about the importance of advocacy, big picture thinking, and dealing with large systems. Working with leaders across disciplines and within my own profession, I learned about collaboration in its most complex and challenging forms.

Now, I want to help equip leaders and teams with strategy, innovation and decision skills that can impact the future of healthcare and higher education.

I support other leaders who are committed to excellent, innovative, and impactful higher education for those entering health professions.
